Saturday night to The Bell in Caerleon [qv] for a barnstormer of a set by Jamie and Derek (accordion and guitars) of Bridgend-based folk-rockers Mabon. Steve Tibbetts meets Afro-Celt Sound System; athletic but unshowy fingering, intriguing harmonies, blink-and-you'll-miss it variations on rhythmic pulse. Unsurprised when Derek later confessed to being a fan in the 70s of Italian prog legends Premiata Forneria Marconi (PFM).
